Training Relates to Balance and Posture

 

Maintenance of a balanced posture is essential for all activities, whether stationary or mobile. Our sense of body positioning begins to deteriorate as we age and become less active. The strength of our muscles and good flexibility are both directly correlated to our sense of balance. The end result of not being able to maintain our ability to balance can be significant; the potential to fall and injure ourselves. For this reason, balance training should be included as an integral part of your clients regime. Before adding exercises you should do a short assessment of your clients balance.

Fit Body & Fit Brain?

Getting in shape and being fit most likely is cosmetic by today's standards and we fail to see the connections that being healthy has on the rest of the body.   In our quest to become, fit, slim, and attractive we disregard the notions of health to achieve the "look".  What is the point of "looking good" if you don't feel good or your body doesn't have more performance.  Achieving health and fitness is more than just "looking good".

Opening Energy Doors

There are few constants in life. One such constant, however, is the aging process. The majority would throw up their hands and say that it is inevitable, and resign themselves to doing little or nothing to slow its effects. Evidence of this is reflected in the undisputed increased deterioration of the health status in all age groups all across the United States today. One wonders how we, as a society, can be more and more informed and educated about proper dieting and exercise, yet still lead such unhealthy life-styles. Many Americans appear reluctant to take serious interest in their level of health and fitness until they have smoked, drank, lounged around, and eaten their way into a corner.

Exchanging Fat for Muscle

Resistance exercise obviously has more to offer than just size and strength increase. The National Federation of Professional Trainers in cooperation with the Fitness Clinic, a subsidiary research facility conducted a (2) year, limited independent research study. The study involved 40 subjects between the ages of 18 and 35. Among these subjects were resistance and aerobic athletes, general fitness enthusiasts, and overweight housewives and businessmen.
