Resistance Training Plateaus

Working With Seniors
When you work with seniors, like any other population, you’ve got to keep them interested and motivated. I started teaching senior aerobics several months ago and found that I was getting bored with my routine. I thought that if I’m bored, my class has got to be bored as well. Something needed to change and fast or I knew that I’d soon be the only person showing up for a workout.

Warming Up Properly
If you're like me, you have several hobbies that involve a great deal of physical activity, such as hiking, running, biking, riding motocross, in-line skating, etc. You spend hours, even days shopping for the right hiking boots or running shoes, tuning your bike, and rotating the wheels on your in-line skates, but often then you completely forget to prepare your bodies for the physical demands that you're about to place on it. Jumping right into physical activity without warming up is very dangerous.

Soy: What You Need to Know
In recent years, soy has been called a “miracle” food, a food good for lowering your risk of heart disease, treating postmenopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, and preventing breast cancer, but that’s only part of the story. Soy may not be as miraculous as the FDA wants you to believe, and it may even have adverse effects on your health, especially if you’re a woman.

Integrated Warm Ups
The concept of a warm up is an integral component of traditional personal training programs. As trainers, we are instructed to start our clients’ workouts with a warm up for several reasons, such as increasing blood flow to the joints, ligaments and tendons, which helps them to get ready to endure the stress of the exercise program by being more elastic and pliable.
